The proposed Library Square buildings in Mount Vernon will perform at the highest level of energy efficiency and will include Green features. The renovated YMCA will transform into a facility that allows easy access for the disabled. The YMCA will include elevator(s) and will house new micro-apartments, a new basketball court, a new racket ball court, new swimming pool, and an expanded daycare facility.
A state-of-the-art space will be constructed for the new and modern Mount Vernon Library: a science and technology library for the 21st century and beyond.
The library will consist of multiple computer stations, with wireless internet service accessible to anyone within Library Square. The library will include a multipurpose space and an auditorium that seats 350 people. Atop the library, 255 modern residential units consisting of studios, one, two and three bedroom apartments. There will be a total of 150 new indoor parking spaces. 100 will be assigned for Library Square residents and 50 will be municipal parking spaces.
